Insurance

Like most specialty providers, I do not participate in any insurance plans. I have chosen to be a private pay provider for the following reasons:

1. Our sessions remain confidential

When services are billed through insurance, insurance companies have access to your records.

2. I do not have to assign you a diagnosis

Insurance companies require providers to make a diagnosis for reimbursement. However, not all people seeking out therapy meet criteria for a clinical diagnosis. Some examples include therapy for relationship issues, self-exploration, personal growth, and promoting wellness. I am able to diagnosis and will when clinically appropriate but that information does not get sent out to outside entities and is not visible on your medical record.

3. You are in control of your mental health care (i.e. you get to decide the frequency and duration of therapy)

Insurance companies dictate how often and for how long I meet with you and oftentimes have strict rules about specific therapy modalities they will financially cover.

Choosing private pay puts you in charge of your therapy journey. We will work together to create a personalized plan that focuses on your unique needs—without being limited by insurance requirements. This is your process, guided by what matters most to you.

While I don’t accept insurance, I am happy to provide a summary of services (often called a “super bill”) for you to submit for reimbursement as an out-of-network provider.

If you plan to submit documentation for reimbursement with your insurance company, I recommend consulting your insurance company to confirm your coverage prior to our initial appointment. The service code we will primarily utilize is 90837 and my license number is LW61581788.

The following are some helpful questions to ask your insurance company:

  • Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits? If so, how many sessions are covered?

  • What is the rate at which out-of-network services are covered?

  • Is approval required from my primary care physician prior to beginning therapy?

  • What is the process for submitting a super-bill and how long will it take to receive my reimbursement?
